This Riesling is taken from a very fine parcel of old vine stocks planted in 1949, terraced by old dry-stone walls typical of this spot that has been left untouched by time. Frank Keyser is right to take good care of it! This wine boasts a complex aromatic palette, with elegant aromas of white flowers (irises) mingling with sweet notes of vine peaches and white-fleshed fruits. The attack is frank, characterised by subtle acidity. The mid-palate offers flavours of Mirabelle plum, while the finish is elegant and exhibits great finesse. This powerful, subtle Riesling was produced in a year that kept all its promises. I would pair it with a sea bass fillet on fennel fronds with star anise beurre blanc. It should be served between 8 et 10°C.
